Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

This course is designed to provide the required knowledge and skills to conduct workplace spotting for services assets to ensure work tasks being conducted near overhead powerlines or underground assets do not encroach on “No Go Zones”. Participants who successfully complete this accredited training program can become registered as a Spotter by Energy Safe Victoria. Spotters are employed to minimise the risk of electrocution or interaction with pipelines. This training course provides participants an appropriate level of skills and knowledge to safely observe, maintain the required clearance and direct items of plant working in the vicinity of electrical assets away from the identified assets.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.
  • Hold a current Level 2 First Aid Certificate or a current First Aid Certificate that complies with the First Aid in the Workplace ‘Code of Practice’ and is inclusive of a module on Electricity. (including current CPR)
  • Hold competency in the form of a Certificate, Statement of Attainment or other evidence, for each item of plant that the person will be spotting for.
  • High Risk Licence for the item of HR plant or equipment that person will be spotting for, with the exception of a dogger or rigger who can spot for all items of plant or equipment.

1 Stop Driving School became a Registered Training Organisation (TOID 40729) in 2013. We take pride in offering and delivering, training and assessment in the fields of Civil Construction Plant Operations and Driving Operations. Owner, Ernest Lowry aka Sput, conducted training and assessment services with The Australian Defence Force in the areas of Heavy Vehicle Driving Instruction. Sput has been involved in Heavy Vehicle Licensing, High-Risk Licensing in Fork Lift, Vehicle Loading Crane and Load Shifting Equipment within the TAFE sector and later under auspice agreements with RTO’s.

To enable 1 Stop to service the wider community we have training centres in Bundalong, Wangaratta and Barmah in North East Victoria.
