Course in Disability First Aid
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This course is an extension of HLTAID003 Provide first aid. It equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to modify their approach if required to provide effective first aid to a person with a disability affecting their body systems and/or mobility, e.g. a person who is in a bed or wheelchair.
This course provides skills and knowledge to apply modified techniques where the first aid response differs between an able-body and a person with a disability. In addition, it includes the ability to recognise and report that a patient may be severely depressed or suicidal.
