Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

A skid steer, also commonly called a bobcat is a type of front end loader. It is a self-propelled crawler or wheeled machine in which steering is accomplished by skidding or reversing the track or wheels on one side of the machine.

These compact, agile machines can maneuver in tight spots while performing a variety of earthmoving, loading, material handling and excavating tasks. Equipping them with attachments such as blades, rakes, snow blowers and stump grinders enables skid steers to do even more work, increasing their value in your operation.

This unit covers skid steer operations in the civil construction industry. It includes planning and preparing, conducting machine pre-operational checks, operating the machine, loading, carrying and placing materials, selecting, removing and fitting attachments, relocating the machine, carrying out machine operator maintenance and cleaning up.

A nationally recognised statement of attainment will be issued to students on successful completion of the course along with a wallet sized card.
