The Certificate IV in Visual Arts is available to Australian students as well as international students who wish to study in Australia.

It is suitable for art students who are looking to develop foundation artistic skills and is based on "hands on" studio learning, modelled on the atelier tradition. Specialised studio sessions for skills in drawing, painting, printmaking and jewellery making are available.

The Sydney Art School Certificate IV in Visual Arts course is accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework provides a pathway into the Diploma of Visual Arts followed by entry into Australian universities.
