Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)The Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) is the recognised qualification to become a Registered Builder.
Get the skills to run your own business, producing high-quality work that conforms to building codes and standards. You'll learn to plan construction projects, choose quality materials, and supervise site activities.
You'll also learn key skills in small business finances, estimating build costs, and managing Occupational Health and Safety on the job site. You can undertake the course as an apprentice, or as an existing worker seeking registration as a builder.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
- Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
- While it is not a requirement, it is recommended that students have relevant construction industry knowledge, and have completed a relevant trade qualification or have other equivalent trade experience.
- Complete the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work as is required for any person to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
- The 'White Card' is required for site visits and is recommended but not required for enrolment into this qualification. However, all students must provide evidence of completion of the Construction Induction white card as listed above prior to completing any work in construction.
