Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)For anyone wanting to have a positive impact on people engaging in harmful substance use, this entry level course is the start you’re after. The knowledge you’ll develop gives you the foundation to support individuals, implement community interventions and promote good health.
You’ll learn how to harness communication skills to build relationships and cultivate networks within the sector. genU Training’s job-ready graduates can go on to work under the guidance of other practitioners in community-based organisations, withdrawal services, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services.
You’ll gain valuable professional experience through participating in on-campus simulated scenarios designed to reflect workplace conditions.
Delivery mode
genU Training offers this course through the following delivery modes:
On campus
Work with instructors and classmates in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Online
Set your own study schedule and balance study with your other commitments.
Study Modes and Times
Blended (day or night): Study with a mix of real time online instructor-led sessions via Zoom video conferencing and guided activities via the Learning Management System (eLearning). One on-campus session is required to complete HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
- One (1) day per week: 9:30am – 4:00pm, comprising of 3 hours via video conferencing and 3 hours guided eLearning
- One (1) night per week: 6:00pm – 9:00pm, comprising of 3 hours via video conferencing with an additional 3 hours guided eLearning
- NB HLTAID011 Provide First Aid will be delivered on a Saturday (9:00am – 5:00pm)
NB: All study modes require students to access and undertake additional activities, including: research activities, reflections and assessments via the Learning Management System (LMS).
Time zones: Local state time zones are observed

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Course fees
- SA Subsidised Training This training may be subsidised by the SA Government for eligible individuals. Places are limited.
- VIC Subsidised Training This training may be subsidised by the VIC Government for eligible individuals. Places are limited.
Students in all states who are not eligible for government funding can access this course at the fee for service rate.
Fee for Service: $4,800
Eligible students from South Australia and Victoria can access government funding for CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.
