Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)With a focus on officiating competitions and games, sporting activities, and the sports industry, this course is for individuals who are enthusiastic about sports and recreation.
This qualification will equip students with well-developed skills and knowledge required to deliver recreational services. Using discretion and judgement, graduates will be suited to work with some independence and under limited supervision using clearly defined plans, policies, and procedures to guide work activities.
Specialisations are available for customer service officers, recreation officers, pool lifeguards, and swim teachers but are not mandatory to achieve this qualification.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
- Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
- [Pool Lifeguard Specialisation] is available to prospective students who are currently completing or have successfully completed First Aid and a Pool Lifeguard certificate, which contain the following units of competency SISCAQU019, SISCAQU020, SISCAQU021, SISCAQU022, HLTAID011, HLTAID009. Students will be required to provide a copy of the certificate/transcript or confirmation of enrolment into a Pool Lifeguard course, which contains the units of competency above.
- [Swim Teacher Specialisation] is available to prospective students who are currently completing or have successfully completed First Aid and a Pool Lifeguard certificate, which contain the following units of competency, SISCAQU023, SISCAQU024, SISCAQU025, SISCAQU026, HLTAID011, HLTAID009. Students will be required to provide a copy of the certificate/transcript or confirmation of enrolment into a Swim teacher course, which contains the units of competency above.
- Prospective Traineeship or Apprenticeship students are required to apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with their employer to organise their apprenticeship contract before applying for this course.
