Certificate III in Pathology Collection

If you want to work as a pathology collector, this is the course for you. We will teach you how to take blood samples, various swabs and electrocardiograms for patients requiring pathology tests. You will learn infection control, first aid, WHS principles, how to prepare samples for testing, as well as communication and customer service skills. Taught by passionate, industry-based teachers, the course includes performing live bleeds in class and out in the industry, giving you real life experience.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.
  • Applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of course commencement
  • When responding to application questions, please be aware that your application is scored against a set of criteria to help determine if this program is a good match for your abilities, experience and goals. Therefore, it is important that you provide detailed and clear responses to each of the application questions.
  • Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 4
  • Working with Children Check required for industry work placement
  • Police Check (current for the year industry work placement is undertaken within the course)
  • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Free TAFE. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment.
