Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This course provides you with hands-on skills and knowledge that enable you to carry out a wide range of tasks in the painting and decorating industry. You will learn practical skills such as preparing surfaces, applying paint by brushes, rollers and spray guns, hanging wallpaper, and creating feature walls. Moreover, you will learn useful theoretical knowledge, including occupational health and safety requirements, and how to write quotations so you are well prepared to enter the workplace with confidence.
CTC Training Program is flexible and focuses on matching your learning progress, with the on-the-job experience you gain week to week. Certificate III Painting and Decorating qualification has 27 units of competency comprising 23 core units and 4 elective units to be selected from the list below.
This course includes written project assignments, as well as observation of practical tasks. Group tasks or assignments may occur as a type of assessment.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
For the operations stream, a candidate must:
- be aged 18 years or over
- be an existing worker in a plumbing or plumbing services supervision role
- have the support of their supervisor and employer
- hold a minimum of a Higher School Certificate (or equivalent)
- able to commit to the course duration and time commitment
- Have already attained a “Whitecard”
- Satisfactorily completed our Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment
- Have a completed workplace support agreement, which confirms the resources required for training and assessment will be made available to the student.
