Certificate III in Painting and Decorating

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

As the training component of an apprenticeship, you will learn the knowledge, skills and applications required as you begin your career as a painter and decorator. Learn about painting and decorative work in new and existing homes as well as commercial construction work. Competency based progression (CBP) apprenticeships in Victoria were previously time based, meaning apprentices were required to serve out the entire time of a training contract (generally four years for apprenticeships). Now apprentices operate under competency based training which places emphasis on the workplace application of attained knowledge and skills. Competency based progression means that as an apprentice completes a progression point, they may be entitled to a wage increase. Progression points are triggered at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of competition of the apprenticeship.
