Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology

Get trade qualified or recognised for your industry experience with the Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive service and repair industry.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Age Requirements:
Students must be of 18 years of age to apply
Academic Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 11 or higher
Physical Requirements:
Have physical attributes suitable for working in the automotive industry that encompasses manual handling of equipment including lifting and carrying heavy objects within scope of safe working practices (i.e. removing and fitting engine electrical components and parts)
English Proficiency:
- An IELTS level of 5.5 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course; OR
- IELTS band score of 5.0 (Academic or general version) then satisfactory completion of ELICOS or ESL up to 20 weeks at upper intermediate level to be taken before the main VET course. Results older than two years are not acceptable; OR
- Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States of America; OR
- Evidence that within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed Certificate IV or higher-level qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework; OR
- For level 1 countries students, they successfully complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test administered by Innovative institute of Australia.
