Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This early childhood education course is the minimum entry requirement for working in the early childhood sector and the prerequisite qualification to study Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
The course will provide you with the opportunity to learn from experienced and supportive teachers, including mandatory work placement with children aged birth - 6 years and participation in the Box Hill Institute PlayBox Playgroup.

On campus

Work and gain real-world experience while earning a qualification.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
On Campus Blended:
- You must have a current Working with Children Check.
- You may be required to provide a National Police Check to be able to participate in work placement if required by the service allocated.
Work Based Blended:
- Traineeship: you must also be employed at a regulated children's education and care service for a minimum of 15 hours per week and have a training contract approved by an Australian Apprenticeship Support network provider (AASN)
- Non traineeship: you must be employed at a regulated children's education and care service for a minimum of 15 hours per week. As part of the application process, you will need to provide evidence of your employment.
