Certificate III in Dental Assisting

The qualification provides you with all the knowledge and skills needed to assist a dentist, dental hygienist or dental therapist, dental prosthetists, or oral health therapists during all health care procedures. This course follows a flipped classroom methodology, where students are exposed to learning content online via Moodle, prior to on campus tutorial to consolidate key concepts.

Students attend face to face classes on campus 3 days a week, and is considered a Full Time study load. The classes are a mix of theoretical learning and practical application of skills that they will use in workplace situations once graduated. Classroom learning is supported by online content which the student access via Moodle, with an expectation that this is completed every week before commencement of Lab based activities.??The assessment of several units is undertaken in Chisholm’s Dental lab which is set up to mimic a dental surgery environment.

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Admission requirements are completion of BKSB assessment with an outcome of ACSF exit level 2 - working level 3, for both literacy and numeracy, Please note: Students need a valid Working with Children Check (volunteer), a clear national police check and immunisations to undertake practical placement., Students will be unable to successfully complete the course without completing placement.
