Certificate III in Barbering

Learn the skills to become a qualified barber with the Certificate III in Barbering. Students will graduate with an understanding of the theory and techniques for shaving and men's grooming, as well as the latest trends in cutting and beard designing.

Students will also learn important skills in client consultation, customer communication and services, selling, technical skills, and product recommendations that will make them an asset to any hairdressing team.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.
  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • The GOTAFE preferred pathway is for prospective students to have completed a Certificate II in Salon Assistant before starting this course.
  • Prospective Traineeship or Apprenticeship students are required to apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with their employer to organise their apprenticeship contract before applying for this course.
