Certificate II in Split-Air Conditioning

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

This course is facilitated and certified by Skillbuild Training (RTO 70059) through an established partnership with CET, and is a course for electricians and 4th year electrical apprentices to enable them to apply for a refrigerant handling licence to install split-system air conditioners.

The course meets the requirements of the regulating body, the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC), for issuing a restricted Refrigerant Handling Licence. On the 1st of July 2005, the Australian Government implemented a licensing scheme to support regulations under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989, designed to reduce emissions of environmentally harmful refrigerant gases. Anyone wanting to install, service or repair an air conditioner, or any other piece of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment must be a licensed technician under the regulations.
