Certificate II in Plumbing Services
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Build the basic skills and knowledge you need to start your plumbing career. This entry-level course will put you on the path to gaining an apprenticeship in plumbing.
According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, plumbing is a skill in demand with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. The industry grew strongly over the past five years and is expected to continue to expand with around 29,000 job openings anticipated over the next five years.
In this course you will be given the practical skills and knowledge to use hand and power tools, carry out welding, read and interpret plans, and calculate quantities and other measurements. You will learn about working safely and effectively in the workplace and how to adhere to the industry's regulations and standards. This qualification includes a compulsory, supervised unpaid work placement of 80 hours, where you will be able to apply your skills and knowledge and gain valuable industry contacts.
Successful completion of this course will give you the confidence to seek an apprenticeship in general plumbing or roof plumbing. You may also seek employment as a trade assistant.
