Certificate II in Engineering Studies
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Looking for a career in Engineering, Fabrication or Welding? This course has been developed to provide a broad range of engineering and manufacturing tasks for entry-level employment prospects for apprenticeships, traineeships or general employment in an engineering related workplace. Students will gain skills and knowledge for entry into an apprenticeship, traineeship or general work in various mechanical engineering, fabrication and manufacturing careers – including general machining, engineering drafting, fabrication and welding. It’s a great way of getting your foot in the door, as it shows not only understanding and skills, but a dedication to your chosen trade area.
This program is designed to complete in 2 stages: Stage 1 is an 8-week program, provides a hands-on introduction to Manual Metal Arc (MMAW) & Gas Metal Arc (GMAW) welding and thermal cutting processes, including occupational health and safety, safe use of hand and power tools and fabrication techniques. Stage 2 (Optional*) to complete the full Certificate II qualification students will gain a further broad range of engineering skills and knowledge, including basic machining, an engineering project, interpret drawings, gaining knowledge of the engineering sector and employment.
