The Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) is the standard pre-apprenticeship pathway to beginning a career as an Electrician, teaching foundational skills in safety and first aid, as well as technical skills in electrotechnology components, accessories, and equipment.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.
  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • Students considering this career should be relatively active and willing to undertake some manual labour.
  • Prospective VDSS students are required to apply through their School's VET Coordinator or Careers Advisor.
