The Certificate II in EAL (Access) provides a general education for students for whom English is an additional language. The course develops English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for social situations and daily interactions. This includes everyday commerce and recreation, as well as linguistically demanding vocational fields.

Students develop relevant social, settlement and numeracy skills and knowledge by choosing elective units of study. The course also provides students with opportunities to use digital technology in their learning.

This is a foundation course for learners who have little or no formal schooling, English literacy skills or numeracy skills. It is also suitable for learners who do not have literacy skills in their first language.
