Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Prepare for your career in the light or heavy automotive and marine industries with this entry-level course. This qualification will give you the basic skills and knowledge needed to pursue a light vehicle repair, heavy commercial vehicle repair, mobile plant repair, diesel fitting or marine mechanical apprenticeship.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, demand for qualified mechanics grew strongly over the past five years with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. Job openings are expected to remain steady over the next five years.

In this course you will gain the basic skills and knowledge required to carry out workplace tasks safely and effectively. You will become familiar with electrical and mechanical components and systems and learn how to use appropriate tools and equipment to complete basic removal, inspection and refitting of heavy or light automotive vehicle components, or marine outboard, inboard and jet ski components.

This course will set you on the path to finding an apprenticeship in a wide range of automotive occupations including a light vehicle repair, heavy commercial vehicle repair (truck, Bus and Trailer servicing and repair) or Mobile Plant Repair (earth moving and mining equipment repair) or within marine mechanical workshops specialising in light and heavy diesel marine engines.
