Certificate II in Arboriculture
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for ground-based tree workers in the arboriculture industry.
Individuals with this qualification perform a range of ground-based arboriculture activities under supervision including, pruning of trees, felling of small trees, operation of chainsaws, and the operation of equipment required for processing and removal of tree material. The work may involve high risk operations in support of arborists. Work practices are undertaken within a strict safety regime to protect workers and the public.
This qualification is suitable as a pre-apprenticeship or school-based program for introduction to the arboriculture industry.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
• Students must already have successfully completed the Unit of Competency “HLTAID011 Provide first aid”
• Students must and be in good physical health as the course is physically demanding.
• Students must complete a pre-assessment test to determine their Language, Literacy and Numeracy. If needed, we will arrange for treesystems or an external agency to provide, as appropriate, additional study support.
• Students must remain employed or self-employed in the arboriculture industry for the duration of the course.

About Treesystems
Mike Ramsden, the owner of treesystems, spent 8 years working as the Operations Manager with City Suburban Tree Surgeons, a vibrant arboriculture company in London. During his time there he assisted the company’s personnel growth from 30 employees to over 130, and annual turnover growth from £1.5 million to £7 million. Mike had overall responsibility for up to 53 arboricultural crews, utilising a range of specialist vehicles, plant, machinery and equipment. City Suburban Tree Surgeons is Arboricultural Association approved and UKAS accredited as compliant to ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Assurance.
Mike has extensive knowledge in all aspects of arboricultural practices, management and maintenance techniques, including current legislation, and the ability to put these into practice whilst understanding the requirements for employment of the work-ready arborist. Mike has qualifications from the United Kingdom for City and Guilds as an NPTC Assessor to the arboriculture industry, and for Training and Assessment under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Mike has over 27 years industry experience, working up from ground worker to contract climber, supervisory and managerial roles.
