Certificate II in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Available for Indigenous students, this fun and exciting course will provide you with the ability to express your passion and pride in your culture through art. Topics you will learn include techniques in jewellery making, printmaking, painting, sculpture, textiles, and drawing.

The Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts (CUA20415) is a course for ATSI students with a keen interest in visual arts and indigenous culture. You’ll be gaining a greater understanding of your own sense of identity and how to project that into a creative arts practice — at the same time gaining practical skills in drawing, design, and painting. Graduate with a small body of your own creative work.

You should study this course if you are an Indigenous student wishing to develop their skills in a range of visual arts practices and media types as well as generate a vocational approach to their artwork. Students wishing to undertake further tertiary studies would also benefit from the folio preparation opportunities. All materials for the course are supplied as part of the program.

In this course you will gain a well-developed command of technique in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural arts. Develop yourself as an artist and produce work that expresses your own cultural identity. Prepare stencils and screens for textile printing and experiment with techniques to produce paintings.
