22566VIC Certificate I in Work Education

Do you have a young person aged 15 or over with special learning needs or learning difficulties? This unique program is designed to give them the support and skills needed to gain employment or progress to further study. It also offers students the opportunity to meet and interact with new people, build confidence and further their language and communication skills. This course is offered on a full-time basis to give students the best opportunity to gain skills for employment or further education.

Entry Requirements

  • To be eligible to apply for this course you will need to have:
    • a diagnosed learning disability and/or
    • have received special education assistance, or have had a modified program at school
      • Evidence of learning disability, or modified school program must be presented prior to enrolment
      • Applicants must be a minimum of 15 years of age at the time of course commencement, have special learning needs, have potential and motivation for employment and also have family support for participation in the course and workforce entry
      • Any student under the age of 17 must provide a Transition from School form prior to undertaking the course
      • A literacy and numeracy assessment is NOT required for this course. Please ignore the paragraph regarding literacy and numeracy evaluation.
      • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Free TAFE. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

      Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment.
