Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely and legally carry, operate and maintain revolvers for security purposes.
It applies to people working independently or under limited supervision as members of a security team.
This unit forms part of the licensing requirements for people engaged in security operations in NSW where these are regulated activities.
In order to work as an armed security guard you must hold a 1F Security Licence issued under the Security Industry Act 1997 to allow you to carry out prescribed activities as a security guard.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
We require all candidates to hold a current Class 1F NSW Security Licence as well as Current Category H NSW Firearms Licence, which must be produced upon enrolment.
This course is designed to align with the NSW Police requirement for all Current Security Officers with a Category H Security Licence to complete annual accreditation in one or a combination of the following:
- CPPSEC3115 Carry, operate & maintain revolvers for security purposes
- CPPSEC3116 Carry, operate & maintain semi auto for security purposes
