With your interest in sport, exercise and health, this major gives you the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in those fields. With an increasing focus on the importance of healthy, active lifestyles, exercise science continues to be a growing discipline within Australia and around the world. You will become experienced in prescribing exercise, as well as assessing and improving the movement of both athletes the general population.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

Higher Education

If you have completed university study in Australia, including a bridging or enabling course, you may meet the admission requirements through:

  • Successful completion of a Murdoch FlexiTrack High Program, TLC Learning for Tomorrow, or an enabling/bridging program at another Australian university during Year 12.
  • Evidence of completing Year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level (domestic applicants only).
  • Evidence of completing a minimum of 2 years of study at TAFE or an RTO (domestic applicants only).
  • STAT Written English score of 140 or higher.
  • Scaled mark of 50 or higher in one of the following: English ATAR, Literature ATAR, English as an Additional Dialect (EALD) ATAR.
  • Successful completion of 2 units at an Australian University or Open Universities Australia (OUA).
  • Successful completion of Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT) courses, such as Murdoch University Preparation Course, Introduction to Academic Communication unit, or Foundation Studies Course.
  • Successful completion of OnTrack Flex, OnTrack Sprint, or K-Track at Murdoch University or an enabling/bridging course at another Australian university.

Recent Secondary Education

If you are finishing high school this year or have done so in the last two years, you may meet the admission requirements through:

  • GCE A Levels with an aggregate of 6 points from a maximum of the best three A-level subjects, including at least two A-level subjects in the calculation (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1).
  • AS Level: C in one of the following: English Language, English Literature, Knowledge and Inquiry.
  • Successful completion of a VET course studied at school, such as Certificate IV or higher.
  • Total score of 24 or higher in International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with HL: 3 or better, SL: 4 or better.
  • Minimum Selection Rank of 70 (WA/ACT/NSW/NT/SA/TAS/VIC) or evidence of completing year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level (domestic applicants only).

Vocational Education & Training

If you have completed an apprenticeship or a VET course at TAFE or another private training provider, you may meet the admission requirements through:

  • Successful completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (AQF level 5-6).
  • Successful completion of a Certificate IV (AQF level 4).
  • Evidence of completing year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level (domestic applicants only).
  • Evidence of completing a minimum of 2 years of studies at TAFE or an RTO (domestic applicants only).
  • STAT Written English score of 140 or higher (145 if prior to May 2010).
