The Bachelor of Science (Honours) lets you take that next step. It is only available if you have achieved a GPA of 5 in the second and third years of your Bachelor degree and have organized your project and a supervisor.
You'll undertake a major research project under the supervision of one of our leading researchers. The degree will be assessed through coursework, research project performance, thesis, and seminar. This is the opportunity to hone your skills and demonstrate your research ability under the eyes of an experienced science professional.
Environmental Science units
- RESEARCH PROPOSAL AND PLANNING (6000ESC)
This course provides a foundation for students enrolled in Honours or Master-level programs with a research component. Topics covered in this course include research methods, research planning and management, commercialization, IP, patenting, ethical conduct in research, the philosophy and history of science, how to critically review research, how to write a research report, and how to present a scientific seminar. During this course, students will also develop the introduction of their research dissertation. - HONOURS DISSERTATION (6001ESC_P1, 6001ESC_P2, 6001ESC_P3)
This course is only available to students enrolled in an Honours program offered through the School of Environment and Science. Students will undertake a research project relevant to their area of specialization under the guidance of one or more supervisors appointed by the Honours Program Director. The topic and nature of the Research Project will be determined through consultation and mutual agreement of the student and supervisor and approved by the Honours Program Director. The project will involve original research and will be under the direct supervision of an academic staff member.

Language requirements
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
