Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Chemistry)
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationThe program can be completed over one year of full-time study or part-time equivalent. Courses are offered on a semester basis, i.e. two semesters per year. The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is offered at Callaghan and Ourimbah Campuses.
Please note that specializations are not available at both campuses.
- The specializations of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geography and Environmental Studies, and Physics are available to students at the Callaghan campus.
- The Marine Science and Sustainable Resource Management specializations are available at the Ourimbah campus only.
- The Psychology specialization is available at both the Callaghan and Ourimbah campuses.

Research Methodologies I
Research Methodologies I forms part of the Honours Program in Chemistry. This course covers advanced approaches to research methodology, with relevance to Honours projects undertaken by students at the 4000 level. - CHEM4002A
Research Communication I: Thesis Preparation
Research Communication I: Thesis Preparation forms part of the Honours Program in Chemistry. This course utilizes students’ skills and knowledge in the development and communication of research and findings. - CHEM4002B
Research Communication II: Thesis and Presentation
Research Communication II: Thesis and Presentation forms part of the multi-sequence research component of honours which requires the development, communication, and presentation of original research under the supervision of a member of academic staff from the School of Environmental and Life Sciences. - CHEM4003
Research Methodologies II
Research Methodologies II forms part of the Honours Program in Chemistry. This course covers advanced approaches to research methodology, with relevance to Honours projects undertaken by students at the 4000 level. Students enrolled in this course will explore contemporary perspectives in Chemistry research and focus specifically on; developing research skills; formulating research proposals; framing research questions; reviewing existing research; and choosing appropriate methodologies for different types of study.

- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Admission requirements
Supervision from a discipline academic must be sought before submitting your application.
To be admitted into the program applicants must have completed the Bachelor of Science or another cognate degree within the last five years with a minimum GPA of 5.0 in:
- all studies undertaken in the program; or
- across a major in the proposed discipline of study; or
- across 80 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists); or
- where the applicant has completed less than 80 units at 3000 level, a GPA of 5.5 calculated from at least 60 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists).
Minimum English language proficiency requirements
All Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement.
Applicants for this program must satisfy a minimum English Language Proficiency Standard equivalent to an IELTS overall minimum of 6.0 with no subtest result below 6.0.
