The Entrepreneurship major is multi-disciplinary in business and ideal for individuals who are passionate about innovation, technology and creativity, have the desire to create their own ventures, or want to be the strategist and driver of entrepreneurial activities within existing organisations. In this major you will develop a suite of critical business skills and the mindset required to start, manage and grow successful businesses in a competitive global market.

You will cover topics in business that combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and be exposed to the ideas and strategies of some of Australia's newest and established entrepreneurs and be trained to think critically, communicate effectively and manage a new business. Business graduates with a major in entrepreneurship will have the skills and knowledge to start their own ventures across a range of sectors. You will also be equipped to work in corporate environments and small to medium enterprises, as well as in government and not-for-profit organisations.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent qualification).

Prerequisites

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4:

  • a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or
  • a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL)

Minimum English language requirements for local students.

The following information provides you with the minimum English language requirements for entry into RMIT programs for applicants who are Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, New Zealand Citizens or a person seeking asylum who holds either a: Temporary Protection Visa (TPV), or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) or Bridging Visa E or Humanitarian Stay (Temporary) visa.

I am an applicant with recent secondary education (current or within the past two years)

Entry to this program is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement. You will be ranked on your ATAR plus any adjustment factors.

I am an applicant with Vocational Education and Training study

We will consider your entire academic record to determine your eligibility for entry. The highest level of education you have previously completed will usually determine how you are ranked.

Successful completion of any Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) will meet the minimum entry requirements for this course.

I am an applicant with Work and Life Experience

Entry to this program is competitive. Applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement, e.g., Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) score (including any adjustment factors).

You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent qualification) and meet the stated prerequisites.

Work and life experience does not provide any additional consideration for entry to this program. You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice. Your overall score will be converted to an equivalent ATAR and competitively ranked for selection.

Your STAT results are valid for two years prior to the commencement of your study.

If you are applying to RMIT as an applicant with work and life experience, you may sit the STAT multiple choice if you:

  • are 19 years of age or over as of 1 January in the year in which you will start your studies and
  • have not been enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years and
  • have no prior secondary school (Year 12), VET studies, HE studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry, or these do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program.

You are still required to meet all other program prerequisites or equivalents.
