Nationally Recognised Higher EducationAs a social science, economics is an exciting and challenging discipline that explores real-world issues and analyses ways to improve the well-being of people and the societies we live in. This major will give you valuable insights into the application of economic principles to develop government policy, business solutions and understand the choices people make. Analyse important issues such as poverty, inequality, inflation, unemployment, environmental issues, innovation, digital transformation, international competition, trade and economic development, many of which relate to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The key graduate attributes that a major in economics develop are critical thinking, problem solving, researching and evaluating information. Overall you gain the skills for careers in economic and social policy, business, banking, financial markets and consulting.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.

Prerequisite
VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
HSC: One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3).
I’m an applicant with higher education study
Prerequisite
Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
To be eligible for an offer of admission into the Bachelor of Business delivered via Online (LBBO), Bundoora (LBB) or Bendigo (RBB) campus at La Trobe University, an applicant must:
- Meet the stated criteria for Year 12 or Non Year 12 admission, OR
- Successful completion of two of the following four Open Access Pathway subjects:
- BUS1001
- BUS1BUE
- BUS1SBY
- MGT1OBE 0l>
