International relations provides an in-depth understanding of the nature and exercise of power in world politics. You could study Introduction to International Relations, Introduction to Political Ideas, International Relations of the Twentieth Century and, Global Security

It covers the origins, constitution and development of the international system; how ideas shape order, justice and security; Australia’s role in global affairs and the interplay between domestic, international and transnational politics.

Graduates of this major will be global citizens, intellectually open and flexible, aware of and sensitive to cultural difference and motivated to make positive change through global engagement.

Our subject prerequisites are listed as Queensland Year 12 General subjects, but you can also meet them by passing equivalent subjects through:

  • Australian high school, including Queensland Senior, interstate Year 12 or International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Overseas high school or International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Tertiary study, including university subjects, and bridging and preparatory programs.
  • Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C)
  • IB 24.5 & AQF Level 7
    • Additional requirements may apply.
