A UOW Arts and Business degree will teach you the essential skills needed to think critically about the world of business. It provides you with an understanding of the corporate and commercial environment including management, operations, marketing, accounting, economics and finance.

At the same time you will study the traditional areas of Arts including history, literature, languages and philosophy and the disciplines of social sciences; cultural studies, sociology and politics.

Students who are passionate and curious about humanity and society enjoy the breadth and flexibility of the Bachelor of Arts degree. This degree will allow you to hone your skills of analysis and interpretation, and your ability to synthesise complex ideas; skills that are essential to practical problem solving and highly valuable to a wide range of employers.

Every real-world problem today has a cultural and social dimension that can be understood using the skills you will gain doing a Bachelor of Arts degree, whichever major you choose.

RECENT SECONDARY EDUCATION ADMISSION CRITERIA

  • Students may gain admission to UOW on the basis of an interview and completed portfolio that meets the Australian Qualifications Framework, including portfolios from a Big Picture Education Australia school.
  • The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is an ATAR-Selection Rank of 75 or an IB of 26.
  • The University assumes students will have studied any 2 units of English. Ideally, students will have studied English Advanced.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING

Applicants who have completed a minimum of an AQF Certificate IV will be considered for admission to this degree.

HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY

For your application to be assessed on your university results you need to have completed at least half a year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at a Bachelor's degree level or higher.

WORK & LIFE EXPERIENCE

Students wishing to undertake this course, but who do not meet academic requirements are advised to apply for a pathway program that UOW recognises, such as a UOW College pathway program, or the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (for people over 21 years of age by 1 March in the year of enrolment) or the TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC).
