The study of ancient language is immensely valuable for appreciating the culture and sophistication of Graeco-Roman antiquity and its lasting influence on the modern world. This major is ideal for students studying a dual program, as it will enhance studies in law, science or languages. You could study Introductory Greek, Introductory Latin, The Rise of Ancient Greece: Greek History to the 4th Century BC, and Myth, Magic and Religion in the Ancient World.

Our subject prerequisites are listed as Queensland Year 12 General subjects, but you can also meet them by passing equivalent subjects through:

  • Australian high school, including Queensland Senior, interstate Year 12 or International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Overseas high school or International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Tertiary study, including university subjects, and bridging and preparatory programs.
  • Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C)
  • IB 24.5
