Actuaries advise government, financial institutions and other organisations on financial management, risk management, product design and complex transactions. In the professionally accredited Bachelor of Actuarial Studies, you’ll learn how to apply mathematical, statistical, economic and financial analysis to a range of practical problems in long-term risk management, finance and insurance.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Assumed knowledge
HSC Mathematics Extension 1 or equivalent. For International Baccalaureate (IB) applicants, this is equivalent to Mathematics (HL).
Recommended studies
HSC Mathematics Extension 2 (Band E4) or equivalent. For International Baccalaureate (IB) applicants, this is equivalent to a grade of 6 or 7 in Further Mathematics (HL) or Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (HL).
English language requirements
When applying to study at Macquarie University, you’re required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.
You may satisfy the English language requirements if you’ve completed:
- senior secondary studies equivalent to the New South Wales HSC
- at least one year of full-time Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification.
- IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
