Work as the chief engineer on commercial vessels up to 80 metres long with the Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal) (MAR40518). This nationally recognised training course is endorsed by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Over a 6-week intensive (at an advanced maritime training facility) you will learn how to manage an engine room and a small engineering team in coastal waters. The course covers: vessel stability, electrical systems, refuelling, hull maintenance, auxiliary machinery, shipboard safety and survival at sea. You’ll also learn basic welding, brazing, cutting and machining operations.
