Get your grade 1 coxswain’s and you’ll be qualified to skipper commercial vessels up to 12 metres long. The Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) (MAR20318) is a nationally recognised qualification that teaches you how to handle a 12 metre vessel and operate a variety of inboard and outboard motors. It’s a 4-week intensive plus an extra 2 days for first aid training — you’ll graduate knowing how to survive at sea and ready to apply for your Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
