Second Engineer

A Second Engineer performs repairs and maintenance on equipment on a ship or marine vessel. You might work on a range of vessel systems from mechanical equipment, to electrical or hydraulic systems. Second Engineers might attend to problem issues that have been reported or provide scheduled maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.

Second Engineers should have strong technical skills and excellent problem solving abilities. You’ll need to have good observational skills and keen attention to detail. Second Engineers must be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate clearly. It’s important that you are organised and can manage your time well.
