Fashion Design Assistant

A Fashion Design Assistant works with designers to help them create their pieces. You might work with an individual designer or be part of a team at a larger fashion label. You’ll follow design briefs and work with sketches and images to create patterns and prepare fabric. You might have to take measurements, construct garments and make necessary alterations. You’ll have to collaborate with designers, models and customers during the production process.

A Fashion Design Assistant needs to be organised and good at following instructions. You’ll need to be a good communicator and be able to work as part of a larger team. Working in the fashion industry requires creativity and attention to detail. You’ll need to keep informed about current and future trends and be able to interpret briefs, designs and sketches.
