Our CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is a course designed for those wanting to help care for vulnerable people who need assistance.

To be an individual support worker, you should possess a sense of compassion and empathy with strong communication skills that will allow you to make that vital connection with those you will be taking care of.

If you are looking for employment in a growing industry, then there is expected to be plenty of positions for a qualified personal care worker.   • 24 x 4 Theory sessions (Online or On Campus)
  • 6 x 6-hour practical skills classes (On Campus)
  • 1 x Assessor workplace visits & 120 hours placement in an aged care facility
  • Recommended 15 hours of self-paced learning per week

Assessments include: theory questions online via our learning management system, oral questions, projects, and observations of skills.

Work Placement

Students will need to complete work placement supervised by qualified staff. Students will attain real-world understandings of the expectations and skills required to work in this field to prepare you for the workforce.

  • Availability to attend classes and placement (this course is not self-paced)
  • Complete a language literacy and numeracy test (entry AQF level 2)
  • Confident in the ability to use digital resources (email, online research, digital assessments, Zoom)
  • Access to a computer and the Internet (Online classes will require cameras and microphones)
  • Obtain a Police Check prior to undertaking placement
  • Meet current industry and workplace vaccination requirements
  • Ability to travel to and from placement

  • You can enrol in a maximum of 2 funded qualifications and 2 funded skills sets in one year.
  • You can undertake up to 2 funded programs at one time.
  • We require you to be 17 and over and not enrolled in high school to access funding.
